In class, we talked about free will. The definition of free will is "the power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate; the ability to act at one's own discretion." In my words it is the power, the right, to choose something over something. For example, sometimes I wonder if I should practice softball or not. I wonder if I should do my homework or not. Should I do the good, or should I do the bad. Because I am good person, I usually do the good things over the bad things. We all have free will, but other people call it "Freedom of Choice." Believe it or not, even God used free will. He had the choice to keep his only Son, Jesus, alive or to have him crucified on the cross.
God used free will for everything. For example, God sent his only son, Jesus. But some thoughts that go around in my head include, "If Jesus was his only son, then why did God put him through all this suffering and pain when he was crucified? Didn't he have free will? But if he wanted him to die, why didn't he just kill him quickly? Why did he put him through a slow, painful death?" He chose to have him crucified and he chose to have him go through this pain. He CHOSE to do it, because he thought it was best for the world. And it was a great choice, he saved the world. In addition, God made us. Once again, he chose to make us the way he made us. He made us with free will. He chose to do that. Now we have the choice to believe in God and to be a Christian/Catholic. We have the choice to believe or not. And if we don't believe in him, he won't be mad, because we have the Freedom of Choice. We are not forced to love him or worship him, God just sits back and says, "Hey, if this is what you want to do, this is your choice!" Of course, our parents influence our choices, but God doesn't. We choose to listen to God.
In the end, we will always be reunited with God. We will die eventually and right now, it does not really matter what others think about your choices. We will come together with God and every thing will be good! He will love us no matter what our choices are and what kind of choices they are. He will not be mad at us or will not be disappointed. God loves us!
